R.L. Bradsher Contracting, Inc., was started by Robert and Vera Bradsher in January 1978 in Raleigh, NC. They had already been in the business of growing and selling produce and decided to try to screen and sell top soil. That grew into a yard with soil blends, mulch, and gravel. Robert got permission to dredge the Neuse River and started to make Golf grade sand and mixes for Golf Course. As the sand industry grew, they bought a sand pit in Cameron, NC, and were able to produce different kinds of sands like Mortar sand and Concrete sand along with Bio-soil and Golf sands.

In 2007, the landscaping yard, now known as Bradsher Landscape Supplies, moved to a new location on Overlook Road still in Raleigh. At the new location, the products increased to add River Rock and Stack/Flag Stone to the list of materials.

In 2019, the location of the sand pit moved to Marston, where they continue to make all of the Golf sands and mixes, mortar sand, white play sand, concrete sand, and ring master sand for horse arenas.

In September of 2021, Robert passed away, but his wife, children, and dedicated employees have kept the company and its many locations moving along.
